We've had discussions about the shooting brake, which inter alia involves three doors and no unusual accommodation for the rear passengers and is based on a standard car.
I bring you the Mk1 Escort and for good value the Mk2, which was almost the same. They fit the bill, right?

I'm on the fence about whether they were shooting brakes, or just ordinary 2-door wagons.
2-door wagons were generally sold as rock-bottom family cars for skinflints on tight budgets that didn't want to spring for unnecessary features like extra doors.
However, they were usually pretty much identical to a 4-door wagon, with a solid strip of sheet metal where the back doors would be.
The Escort looks like they did try to style it to look sportier, so it may just be a shooting brake.
